should i set up a company or be sole trader?
This is a really important decision to make and worth thinking carefully about. There are significant benefits from trading through a company. It’s a better way to protect your assets and there are tax benefits too. But it needs to be right for your particular situation. There’s no one answer that’s right for everyone. Set up Fees (once off )
Sole Trader Registration $ 145 + gst
Company set up $ 1,650 + gst (normally $1,795)
Software set up $ 250 + gst (also includes start up training)
Bookkeeping $ 180 - 220 + gst
Tax Return $ 65 - 95 + gst, depending on your business type
